Cocoa Hazelnut Bombs

Aiming to snack smarter is a great health goal. Personally I aim for 3 good meals and 2-3 snacks each day.

This is my go to snack, I love them with a mid-morning coffee or for the afternoon slump. They are also very handy to throw in the gym bag for pre or post workout. Prepare a batch today and set yourself up for a week of smart snacking.

Recipe tip: I like to double or triple this recipe to get a batch of these going for a few days. As it’s Sunday this is a great day to batch up.

Makes: 6 balls
Prep time: 5 mins

Ingredients:

  • 100g hazelnuts, finely chopped
  • 6 Medjool dates, chopped
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground chia seeds
  • 3 tsp good quality cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method:
Spread the hazelnuts on a plate and set aside.
Place the dates, maple syrup, ground chia, cocoa powder and vanilla extract in a food processor and blitz until you have a sticky paste.
Use your hands to shape the paste into balls roughly the size of golf balls. Then roll each ball in the chopped hazelnuts until coated
Your cocoa and hazelnut bombs are ready to eat straight away. Store the extras in an airtight container in the cupboard.
These will also freeze well if you want to get extra time out of them.
